Profile Information

Greetings all...

In reference to the photographs and without protracted preamble, essentially what I present is a candid  and inclusive view of the screening process ... I make no grandiose claims nor have I ever made the presumptive  proclamation of paranormality in any instance (aside from the inclusion of enticing YouTube video titles) and
I assure you there is no intentional deception or misrepresentation of evidence here....

I am well aware of the mechanics associated with of pariodelia, matrixing, apophenia , simulacrum and anthropomorphizing by way of over-pixelation ..I am also completely cognizant of the  potential for misinterpretation of the algorithmic artifacts that  excessive digital photographic editing can create and the resultant cognitive abstraction and thematic apperception (I think that covers everything) ...And as I readily admit this may be the reality in some of these cases, I also include in most of my articles; the original photo followed by the progressive stages of enlargement that in most instances clearly depicts the anomaly in question prior to the subsequent final photo that includes augmentation...My methodology is simple: as one that is sensitive to the presence of supernatural activity, I am attempting to match photographically what I am generally sensing at certain sites that I frequent but as I  lack developmental acuity in some respects, I do not necessary consider myself so adept as to afford definitive discernment ...again, what you see in my articles are basically a candid inclusion into my screening process as I add them as updates to my current topics as I see them disregarding the potential for gratuitous skepticism that is all too common these days and obviously motivated by competition, territorial provincialism, and even personal vendettas as opposed to objective critique ...

I am seeing a pattern in the photography of myself and others that are making long term studies of these sites that included multiple, return visits under all types of weather conditions, seasonal changes, times of day or night and a myriad of other variables that may or may not contribute to paranormal activity... I feel that it is highly unlikely that a definitive determination can be sufficiently assessed by the single visit, 2-3 hour "investigation" that is the such the norm these days, but I digress ...

While some of those "items of interest" featured in the photos of my forum threads or gallery are more than likely my imagination at work, I also feel that the preponderance of inexplicable anomalies present in some of those highlight photos serve to purge any lingering doubts I have even coming from the completely unbiased and skeptical mind set that I employ during some of my occasional moments of uncertainty...

In reference to the equipment employed, keep in mind that I have elected to utilize an inexpensive Easy Shoot camera for a variety of reasons that are based on functionality and other mitigating factors unrelated to financially feasibility... the reality of working in the environments that I do, coupled with the incompatibility of a heavy, clumsy, complicated camera in the type of sites that I frequent, often in the dark, often in adverse weather, often in structurally compromised buildings strewn with debris, occasional in crime ridden neighborhoods has made my choice of a light, handy 12.1 Kodak one of prudence (but may upgrade soon)....the amount of time I have spent in the field has dictated the gear I use and when trying to shimmy halfway up a wall via drain pipe to get a shot through a window, a big bulky camera fitted with a huge, heavy, manual focus lens in one hand is hardly be practical...

With that said I consider myself the best paranormal photographer on earth and some of my photos the most compelling EVER captured....

The Biograph Theater-The Death of John Dillinger

By Barek Halfhand

Spring in Chicago represents an almost ritualistic awakening from hibernation as the lakeside city is finally freed from the often debilitating grip of Midwestern winter extremes… a drive along Lake Shore Drive on one of these sun bathed, warmer afternoons proves that…

The Minnesota State School

Minnesota is a beautiful state and “Land of a Thousand Lake” is not only a catchy license plate an apt geographical description …the tall pines and white barked birches begin to flank the roadway the farther north past the Twin cities you may venture … trekking towards central state…

The Alamo

by Barek Halfhand

Smack dab in the heart of downtown San Antonio stands an archaic structure has come to serve as the symbol of Texas pride… the name “Alamo” alone represents an entire lexicon of history, lore, romance and war …on one particularly warm Sunday morning I made my way to south on Texas I…

I enjoyed reading your Peabody article. I am a native of IL, born in Cicero and raised in Elmhurst. I made MANY trips to ole Peabody's "Tomb"... I remember the excitement of being chased from there or scaring ourselves into running away from at Benny Hill speed. lol
